Daisy Communications

We got them into the FT & other business nationals, raising awareness of their profile.

Daisy Communications needed to ‘up' their national profile within the business sector.

"We didn't imagine we would make it into a publication like the FT so prominently or so quickly. I have to hand it to SO for a very timely piece of work."
Ian McKenzie, non-executive chairman, Daisy Communications

The context

Lancashire-based Daisy Communications, a specialist supplier of telecomms services to SMEs, wanted to raise their national business profile. However, although something of a local hero and industry sector icon in the North West, Daisy's enigmatic owner, Matt Riley, was little known outside of his operational heartland.

The task

We were asked to achieve high-profile business-media coverage for Daisy Communications on the national stage.

What we did

We decided to leverage the enormous potential of Matt Riley as the organisation's figurehead. We felt that he looked the part, and that his winning personality and considerable industry knowledge would be the key to media interest. We commissioned a respected national-newspaper photographer specialising in business/finance, on the premise that a good photo can often be more powerful than a news story.

The results

  • The shot worked its magic with the Financial Times, where we achieved full-page coverage for Daisy Communications, incorporating our photo and an interview with Matt Riley
  • Our intensive media-relations campaign used creative thinking to achieve high levels of ongoing media coverage in titles including the Sunday Times, FT.com, Growing Business, Corporate UK and Business & Industry
